Thigh lift surgery reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin, and in some cases fat, resulting in smoother skin and better-proportioned contours of the thighs and lower body, it can be performed in combination with liposuction.
The thigh lift is beneficial in either someone that has lost weight and is unable to improve the appearance of their thighs due to saggy skin or poor definition, or someone that that skin that has attenuated or stretched with age. In certain cases, a thigh lift is not needed, and provided the patient has good skin tone and a localized area of fat deposit, a thigh “gap” maybe be created with liposuction alone.
The incision pattern varies according to what needs to be corrected, from a scar placed in the groin crease only, to one that runs down the inside of the thigh. It is done asleep and takes 1 ½ hours and done as a day case.
The skin heals after 5 days, and swelling subsides after 2-3 weeks. The scar darkens and will stretch slightly up to 3 months, but then settles with time. A pressure garment is worn continuously for 3 weeks and up to 6 weeks to smoothen out the area.
